  1. When the wedding used to be in full swing the "Strawboys" better know by the old people as the Cpúcaí Bróga used to come to the house. They were uninvited guests who used to come to the house looking for drink. They used to be dressed in straw from head to foot, and they used to come into the house and dance about on the floor until they got what they wanted, and then they went away again.
    The Most Rev. Father Gaffney P.P. of Lurgan was a great match-maker. He made a lot of matches. He wrote a book on match-making called Father John the Matchmaker. It applied to himself only he changed the name from Bernard to John.
