  1. How Lake Sheelin got its name
I heard the following story about how lake Sheelin came to be a lake. In olden days there was w well in a meadow and the well was always covered. There was a notice at the well telling everyone that brought water out of it to cover it after them.
One day a woman came to the well for water and she forgot to cover the well after her. Then the water began to rise and followed the woman and drowned her. Then it rose to be seven miles long and three miles wide.
