The more important traditions of the '98 period to be found in this locality have already been forwarded by me to the Folklore initiative.
Another notorious '98 figure about whom a considerable amount of local tradition is to be found was the infamous Lieutenant Laurence of Moyne who was a notorious bigot. The stories which connected him with the desecration of blessed wells etc I have already given to Mr. E O'Toole of Rathville who included them in his "Blessed Wells of County Carlow" and hence they need not be referenced here.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
