    and carried on their dairy operations during the Summer were called in Irish buaile (booly) a won evidently derived from Bó. The custom existed down to the 16th century.
    Booly - In some parts it was applied to any place where cattle were fed or milked or set apart for dairy purposes.
    Boolinarrig - Probably the Booley up the oak trees.
    Kilcoleman - Former name was Daire Mór or great oak wood.
    Drumcullen - Some say - Drum = hill cuillin = holly place noted for holly trees.
    More probable from the Irish Name Cullen sept who were formerly subordinate chiefs of this neirhbourhood. St. Barrind or Barrindeus was Abbot of Drumcullen in 590.
    Knockbarron Hill = Hill of Barrind.
    Slieve Bloom
    Sliabh Bladhma = Bladma from Bladh
