  1. When a man loses a lot of cattle by death, there is an old belief, that if he burns one of the dead beasts in the threshold of the cowhouse door, it is supposed to end his run of bad luck.
The beast is placed in a standing position, as if it was going out.
Long ago if a boy or girl got the measles, the parents used to make the child go backwards and forwards three times under an ass's belly in the name of the Trinity. This was supposed to cure the measles.
Before the advent of the threshing machine, the people used to thresh with a flail in the barn. The floors were made of clay. Sometimes a horses skull was put under the floor. This used to make the sound louder, and therefore it lessened the work.
