- Hidden Treasure.Often on winter nights when sitting by the fire-side I hear stories of hidden treasures. One of these hoards is on our own district of Murrintown.Not far from Murrintown in Johnstown demesne is the Deer Park in which are the ruins of a Chapel and Graveyard. The Graveyard is still used for burials. In the centre of it can still be seen the ruins of the Church which was founded by Saint Davin. Cromwell's soldiers burned it some hundreds of years ago.Outside the walls of this graveyard on the North side, under a blackthorn tree the hidden treasure is supposed to be. The treasure consists of a crock of gold and a silver chalice. It was placed there by the people which lived in the Park in the time of Cromwell, for fear that the soldiers would find it.
