Connolly's cattle and drove them down to the bank. He killed them one by one with an axe and took an eye of each. He rolled them into the river and then nice and level he put the planks across and made a fine bridge. He watched until he saw Connolly and his wife coming. He set the hay and straw on fire. Connolly came so quick over the bridge that he did not know what it was made of. He asked Connolly was he sorry and Connolly said he was. So Jack got a knife and Mrs Connolly came out and said "Stop Jack" I will give you a crock of gold "Here with it" said Jack. He got the gold under one arm and Connolly's daughter under the other and went home to his mother's cabin and got married. He invited all his friends and lived happily afterwards.
