- The bell of Arnacraney is supposed to be buried in a three cornered field about one and a half miles from the Ballymahon-Athlone road. There are two big rocks marking the spot where the bell is supposed to be hidden. There is a bell cut out on one of the rocks. The bell belonged to the white Friars of Arnacraney. It was erected by the Friars beside the old chapel, about one mile from Tang Post office.
The walls of the chapel are still to be seen. The bell was hidden by the Friars for fear of Cromwell and his soldiers stealing it. The chapel was also burned by Cromwell. The bell was covered with silver and it is said that the chain that was attached to it was made of silver. There was never an attempt made to take up the bell.- Bailitheoir
