  1. About a mile from Mheramore Michael Molloy has a forge. It is on the main road from Moate to Athlone. It is a fair-sized forge of modern build
    He shoes horses mends ploughs shoes wheels of cars, and mends machines of various kinds. He also makes gates of various kinds and sizes. In the corner of the forge on a little pile of stones the fire is situated, and also the bellows
    The tools you would see in the forge are hammers, sledges, files, rasps, pincers, anvil, poker, drills, and cold chisels.
