In the south of Ireland, it is the custom for the people to kill a goose on that day.
Friday is the lucky day for the people to change from their houses into new ones.
Saturday is the unlucky day for the people to change from their homes, and on that day no one thinks of changing.
Arbour Day, the 1st of December is the day for planting trees and shrubs. It is said that people should plant potatoes before St. Patrick's Day or they will not have a good crop.
The first days of April are called the "borrowed" days on account of March borrowing them from April. The cold days of April are supposed to "skin" the cows.
