  1. In the early centuries, Ireland was crowded with English soldiers, and they were persecuting the Irish people. Nearly all the Irish chiefs and soldiers were gone abroad fighting. Some soldiers remained in Ireland. Among those, were two brothers, and four companions. They went through all parts of Ireland. One night they were going towards a railway, and they met a demon. He began to talk to them in a foreign language. The soldiers did not understand him.
    One of the soldiers shouted, 'move' as he drew his sword. The demon made faces, at them, and the soldiers got afraid. At that moment, the Blessed Virgin appeared to them, and told them to go to the green bushes. They did as they were told. They went up a little hill and on the other side, there was a wood. Here, the grass was so tall, that their heads were only above it. They went on, and they came to a glen. Here, they saw a priest saying Mass, and a congregation
