  1. There was once a king who had plenty of money. He was defeated in many battles. He fought one great battles but he was defeated.in it. He never thought much about his army, and he let them go to battle disorderly. While they would be fighting, he would have every kind of amusement for himself. One day when the battle was over two sheriffs came to the king's palace. They ordered the king and his daughter Elizabeth, out of the house.
    The king got afraid, and left the house. He did not mind because he was richer than a millionaire. Next day he gathered his belonging's and started out. He came to a big forest, and he said to his wife, "Let us go through this forest." When they were half-way through the wood, they met a man with a large grey beard. He had an iron cap on his head, and a glittering sword in his hand
