    This is how they used cut the turf long ago. They used get as much clay and mud as they wanted and put this in a damp place in the bog. They used mix it with moss and grass to make it firm. When it would be real firm they put some of it in balls and more in rolls like butter and they put these on a high bank to dry. When it would be real dry they would bring it home on a truck. No carts were used.
    When cutting turf nowadays the bank is cleaned the day before cutting begins. The scraws are taken away and the bank levelled.
