    biggest house in Stackallen belongs to Mr. Leahy. It is called Stackallen House and Lord Boyne who was landlord of this district built it soon after the Battle of the Boyne. There are many small farms in this district. There are about twelve ruins of houses in this district. Here is a story that is told round here that my mother told me. A long time ago a fisherman caught a salmon in a lake in Meath and he hung him up in the kitchen. There was a woman coming to the fisherman's house that night and when she came in she said there was awful crying on the lake and the fisherman asked what was it and she said that something was saying "woora woora an bhfaca tú Philip." The salmon on the wall came to life and said "that is Sile looking for me" and the man got frightened and he flung the Salmon back
