Ar an leathanach seo
- Before the potatoes are sown the ground is ploughed and harrowed and drills are opened. Sometimes ridges are made and the potatoes are stuck. In new ground ridges are made. Manure from the farmyard or seaweed mixed with sand is spread on the drills or on the ridges. The drills are opened with iron ploughs or timber ploughs. Bán is turned on new ground with spade. This is called crais-romhar.
The potatoes are cut and an eye or two is left in each one. The potatoes about the the size of a hens egg are not cut. The potatoes are spread with the cut side down. Then they are covered. After some time they are covered again to protect them from the frost. If there are weeds on them they are taken away.
Potatoes are dug about the middle of June if they were sown early and if they were not attacked by the frost. After digging they are stored in barns. The small ones are taken from the large ones and they are used for feeding(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
