On St. Johns Eve a fire was lighted in a gap between two fields and when the fire was burned to ashes, the cows were made jump over it in order that the cows were/would milk well the following year.
Some Superstitions people bury eggs in another persons field or garden in order that the crops may grow badly. These are known as piseógs.
In Michaelmas night the housewife always killed a goose for Michaelmas. In St. Martins day a hen was killed at the fire and as the blood was spilled around the kitchen in honour of St. Martin. On St Stephen's day it is the custom for a number of men to go round collecting for the wren. They dress themselves up in old clothes with eye fiddles and they usually sing this rhyme.
