- The practice of match-making still prevails with very little changes. the matches are made by the parents and the young couple sometimes know nothing about it until everything regarding "fortune" is settled satisfactorily. Then the young pair meet in town and if they like each other, which they usually do, the marriage ring is fitted and bought and the date of the marriage is fixed. Sometimes a party is given at the young lady's home to which the bridegroom to be is invited.
In olden times the pair did not meet in town but the young man came to the lady's house to see her and if the marriage was broken up after that visit it was said that "he did not like her".(continues on next page)
