Ar an leathanach seo
- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)hearse to the church. There it is placed on two trestles and four lighted candles are placed near by. The people come into the church and the Rosary is recited. Then the people disperse and the coffin is left there for the night. mass-cards and flowers sent by friends are placed on top of the coffin.
On the following day, Mass is celebrated, usually High Mass, for the repose of the soul. About noon the funeral leaves the church for the graveyard. On arrival at the grave-yard, the coffin is taken from the hearse and borne on the shoulder of the relatives to the open grave. The coffin is carried all around the churchyard and is laid on the ground beside the grave. The priest reads the burial Service, and the coffin is lowered by means of ropes.
Then the men who opened the grave cover it again, and when this is done, the spade and shovel are placed on top in the form of a cross. Everybody kneels down and says a prayer for the departed soul. The flowers, if any are sent, are(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
