- It is said that if the sun goes down it is a sign of rain and if it has a watery appearance it denotes rain. If we see the clouds moving in the sky it is a sign that we are going to have a storm. "A rainbow in the morning is the sailor's warning. A rainbow in the night is the shepherd's delight." When the cat turns his back to the fire we can be sure that we will get rain. If we see the hills turning very blue it denotes a fog and if we see them appearing near it is a sign of rain. Where the soot falls from the chimney it denotes rain. When we see the swans flying from the Shannon it denotes rain. When we hear the curlews cooing it is a sign of rain. When we see the swallows flying low it is a sign of rain and when we see them flying high it denotes fine weather.Funny Story
One evening Irish Paddy went into a church. He was talking to the priest. He put a herring into the priest's pocket and brought out a Crucifix. The priest was saying Mass and he gave a sermon on Our Divine Lord. He held the herring in his hand and thought it was the Crucifix. He said "This is the man that redeemed the world. "No" says Paddy, "but here he is"
