There was a man in the neighbourhood at that time, he was nicknamed "Peddlar Bawn". He was supposed to be a robber, and he stole a great deal of valuable things from everybody. The police hunted for him everywhere. He stolde a pair of golden ornaments from the wealth man who lived near our house. He had not time to take them away, as the police were after him, and it is supposed he hid them in an old canister near the well in the field. He was taken to prison by the police, and he never had a chance to come back and take them away as he died in prison.
Some people believe it is there still and others say it's only an old tradition. The house in which the wealthy man once lived is now an old ruin. Only one person ever attempted to get the treasure but did not succeed. People say if the ornaments were found, they would be worth one hundred pounds.
