In the olden times the ruling family here was OBrien and Beithne OBrien after whom Kilbehenny (Coillbeithne)...

    (continued from previous page)
A Protestant gentleman had an orchard beyond Kilglas. He employed a man to mind this orchard for him and this watchman had a kind of sentrybox or some little cabin with just enough room for himself.
One night he felt himself being pushed and two ladies got in behind him. They told him it was no place for him to be but he didn't go. After a time they asked him out to dance but he refused.
He continued acting as watchman for some time longer when he got into delicate health and had to give up.
Soon after giving up the job he was in his home one day heating some milk for himself. A lady whom he recognised as one of those who tried to push him from the cabin came in, threw some herbs into the milk and then disappeared.
The man drank the milk and recovered his health.
