A poor man in Carhue could make no butter and it was supposed that a neighbours had made 'pisogues' for him.
He spent all he had on masses trying to get the evil remedied. A curate who was in the parish was doing his best for him. This priest left and went to Kilcummin. Things went from bad to worse with the poor man and after a time he went to see the priest who had left the parish.
The story goes that the priest told him to remain in the house with his cow on a certain night and that he would see the person who was doing him harm. He watched and twas his own father (who was dead) he saw. He mentioned the matter to some people who advised him to have a look at his father's grave. He went into Brigown where his father was buried opened the grave and found the arm, from the elbow down, missing from the corpse.
