“When a swan comes near the shore it is a sign of bad weather.”
(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)it is a sign that there is bad weather at sea. When the crows fly low it is a sign that rain is near. If the geese fly against the wind it is the sign of a storm. If table salt is damp it is a sign that rain is coming.
When wild geese are seen flying inland it is a sign that there is severe weather in the North.
On a fine Winters night if you stand at the door and hear a kind of moaning noise even though the night is calm you will know a gale is near because the sound is that of the Atlantic rollers being driven in as they reach the shore before the gale starts. When the cat turns it's back to the fire it is the sign of rain.
If a dog eats grass it is a sign of rain.- Bailitheoir
