“Nell Saul, Mary Flaherty, and Bridget Driscoll, were the caoiners of this place.”
Nell Saul, Mary Flaherty, and Bridget Driscoll, were the caoiners of this place.
Their dress was a hood-cloak of fur. Their cry was like that of the "Bean Caointe" a spirit that followes some families when a member is dying and only one person can hear it.
The caoiners would remain the house where the corpse was and would caoin to the funeral and would continue until the corpse was covered. They would then return home and not caoin again until the next death.- Bailitheoir
