  1. The name of my townland it Upper Ahern. It is in parish of Conna. It is bordered by four other townlands namely, Lower Ahern, Ballymurphy, Ballytrasna, and Francestown.
There are eleven families living in my townland and thirty six people. There are also three old people in my townland namely, Mr William O'Sullivan, Miss Tresa Mac Sweeney, and Patrick Carey. Two have a slight knowledge of Irish. Mr William O'Sullivan has an excellent knowledge of Irish and English History both ancient and modern.
Houses were more plentiful long ago than now. Some of the people that were living in my townland long ago are dead and some are gone to America.
There are two ancient castles built near Mrs Bowles's of Ahern House which is a big gentleman's residence. Also the bowl which Finn MacCoul used as a wash-basin and the stone with which he played can be seen at Ahern House.
