    Donnachadh Ceoil was a well know pedlar some forty years ago. In return for bits of cloth which he gathered he gave 'gabh shnáth' thread thimbles, needles and other useful household articles. Everybody had a welcome for him because he was a great musician and a wonderful story-teller. Pedlars of this kind do not come now.
    The sixpence is called a 'Tanner', the three-penny bit the 'Kid's eye", the shilling is known by the name of 'Bob', and the five-shilling piece as the 'Horseman'.
