- My father Mr. Denis Coleman of Coolclough, Kanturk told me the following.
About forty five years ago in the year eighteen ninety three, Bolomore wood was burned accidentally.
The fire broke in from an adjoining mountain, which a farmer had set fore to, to burn some of the heath.
It is the custom to burn the heath of the mountain, to give the young grass a chance of growing.
About thirty seven years later, in the year nineteen twenty, what remained of the wood was burned by the Black and Tans.
The Black and Tans broke all the bridge and felled trees, across the road.
It is now a wild bleak place, where once was a beautiful scenery.- Faisnéiseoir
