   Fairy Forts.
   Fairy forts are supposed to be in every farm if people only knew where they are. They are usually called forts or liss. A field which has a fort is usually called the ''fort field'' or the '' old fort.''
   There is a fort in Glencarney in a field belonging to Patrick O' Carroll. The land is circular in shape. There is a fence of earth around it and has three gaps getting into it. There is a story attached to this fort:-
   One day two girls were sent out in the fields picking thistles. They were warned by their father before they went not to go into the fort. They went off and went into the fort field to pick the thistles, as the thistles were very good in that field. when they came near the fort they saw that inside in the fort were some fine big thistles.
   One of the girls said she would go in and pick them. The other girl told her not to. But she
   said , '' I will not be long picking a bag of them.'' So in she went and picked them.
   She came out after a while when she had her bag full. Then the two of them started for home.
   They were not gone very far when the girl that picked the thistles in the fort got a pain in her side
