    A great storm occurred in 1839. It occurred in January. It effected the farmers very much. It blew away their houses and they had to go away to America and England.

    Story of 1839 Storm.
    In the year of 1839 there lived a man named Hidock. He endured many storms in his day and he often had to go out in a snowstorm.
    He sometimes had to ride hundreds of miles in the course of his journey in rain and snow and often almost perished on his journey.
    He was once caught in a snowstorm in the black hills and had to stay there for several weeks on account of the terrible depth of snow in these mountains. He had a fight with a robber who shot him
