    when it would be too cold for out - door school it was carried on in the farmers houses and the teacher lodged in the house that he would be teaching in.
    This teachers pay was only his food and a penny a day.
    The subjects taught were English, Irish, history, arithmantic, The pupils of this school had no books, pens nor pencils, the only way they had of writing was with slates. They used to sit on sugan chairs in front of the black - board.
