  1. Long ago in this district there was scarcely any bread used only at Christmas and Easter, and then they would grind a half sack of wheat into flour, and they used to give wheat they wouldn't want to their workmen who used to grind it for it was a hard job.
    The bread used was "boxty" bread baked on a griddle.
