- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)At that time there lived near the village of Drimoleague a woman who had a very large family. She was a widow and could not support her large family. Within four days two of her sons and one daughter died of starvation.
As the poor woman had not the money to buy a coffin for each of them, one after another she took them to a graveyard that was about four miles away and buried them.
A lot of the lives of the Irish people might have been saved were it not for the villainy of the English Queen at the time, who prevented a large cargo of Indian maize from landing in some Irish port. If this cargo had landed alot of people would have been saved from starvation.- Bailitheoir
