The crickets scream very sharply and spiders and cockroaches are seen in great numbers before wet weather. The ducks call loudly and the dogs like to be left indoors.
People suffering from corns and chilblains suffer very much before rain. The same happens when people suffer from rheumatism.
The following are some of the signs which forecast fine weather.
If the sun goes down red and cheerful-looking in the evening good weather is indicated.
When the wind is from the west good dry weather will follow.
If the crows fly high fine weather is to come. If a certain bird called the "Gabhairin Ródhtha" which frequents the bogs is heard, it is a token of good dry weather. If a rainbow is seen in the evening good weather is forecasted.
