    set in cross wall adjoining the other bedroom.

    South End Bedroom
    Double bed against back wall. Box as seat.
    Big deep press against end wall. Table at window.
    Wooden pegs and metal hooks in all for hanging clothes
    This room was not ceiled as the flooring of the attic or loft was over it. No fireplace.
    As you went up the house from this end room you climbed up a little step 3" or 4" high for each room.
    Each window was 44" x 27" including wood-work: 4 panes high, 3 wide. All the windows were protected on the outside by two strong iron bars set upright from top to bottom.
    The back wall of house was a couple of feet lower than the front as the ground was so much higher there. Buttress is of stone masonry support this wall which was inclined to lean outwards. The buttress at back is a block of masonry about 3ft at base and 1 foot at top, 3 1/2 or 4 ft high. End buttress at south gable is a big triangle block.
