  1. STYE ON THE EYE
    Have someone whose father and mother are both living point nine thorns from a gooseberry, push at the eye. The ninth thorn is thrown over the right shoulder.

    A person married to another of the same name has the cure; others say that the children of such a marriage have the cure.
    The sufferer must go to the house and ask for a piece of bread which he eats.
