If you give milk to anybody on that day there will be no butter from the milk for the rest of the month. In the morning before you light the fire, you should burn a bunch of rowan tree. No ashes should be thrown out on May morning, but, a branch of a furze tree should be over the door and may flowers should be scattered on the threshold.
