The man came on to the stile and was about to enter the graveyard after her, when the hare turned round and said Poor Willie you have travelled far enough after me all night and it's time to leave me alone. The man turned back immediately as he was about three miles distant from his home. He never after this experience went out again in pursuit of a hare.
