- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)When the woman of the house is making oatmeal bread she gets a board and and knead the oatmeal, sugar, water, and other ingredients together. Afterwards she puts the dough in the oven or griddle. When making bread milking is often added when kneading. The ingredients which are used when making bread are flour, milk, sugar, baking soda, salt and eggs. Bread is made every alternate day. The marks of a cross are cut out on cakes of bread. In olden times oaten bread was made in front of the fire standing against a "gridiron". Griddle bread was made long ago and it is made to the present day. On Shrove Tuesday pan cakes are made.
