- There are many animals, kept and reared at every farm house in my district, such as cows, horses pigs goat sheep donkeys calves and many others. At every farm poultry is also kept.We have three cows at home and their names are "Darkey" "Nellie" and "Bawney" When the farmers are driving the cows in or out to the field they shout "How" How" to make them walk quickly.The byre is erected to suit the numbers of cows kept. There is a large door on it and it is neatly whitewashed. There is a manger in the byre from which the cows eat straw. There is also a window on it. The stable is also whitewashed and there is a manger in it where the horse eats his straw and hay and oats The horse is clipped in Spring with hand clippers or machines. His fodder is hay oats and straw. Before the ploughing commences the horse is taken to(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
