  2. A lot of stories are told about the famine of 1847. These were very poor times and the majority of the people were very poor. The most of the people at that time had to live on potatoes and milk. At that time the people used to grow a lot of corn and they used have a lot of cattle (?) but these had to be sold and the money had to be given to the landlords for rent. At the end of the summer of '45 when the green stalks were on the potatoes the people
