This time the white hound was abreast of the black one and just as they reached the house, the white one got through the opened window, while the black one fell dead. The priest arrived at the man's house, gave him the sacrements, and put him on the road to his reward. On his way home the priest asked his companion if he understood the sign, the man answered that he did not, so the priest said that
