Ar an leathanach seo
- There are many sorts of bread made in this district such as soda cakes, potato cake, oat meal cakes, pan cakes and many others. The potato cake is made from boiled potatoes and a little salt. The potatoes are bruised very well so as not to leave any lumps. The potato cake is cut up into equal parts and each of these are called "farrels".
Oaten bread is made from oat meal, a little sugar and a little drop of water. It is baked on a grid iron before the fire.
It is an old custom to make pancakes on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday and this day is called Pancake Tuesday
