- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)day. The day before Christmas day is call Christmas Eve. The house is generally white washed for this feast day. The people have an old custom that they practise. On Christmas Eve they go looking for the holly with berries on it and stick it up in the windows. On this night there is a candle lighted in every window. The people leave the door unbolted on this night because they say Our Lord and His Blessed Mother is outside. The children hang their stockings for Santa Calus to put presents in them and they are up the next morning at five o clock to look at the presents. Christmas is a great feast because on that day Christ was born in a stable at Bethelem.
