  1. Strong men were very plentiful in older times. I heard my father say that when he was small, he saw a man named Micky Dillon carry six curt, of wheat on his back from the market of Kinvara to the boat.
    Paudeen Mór from Kinvara was also very strong. He would lie on the ground and others would put six curt of wheat on his back. Then he would rise and bring it to the boat for them. It was very common in olden times to see the people carrying heavy weights at markets.
    There was a very strong man in Gort. His name is Joe Walsh. He worked at the crane,. He lives still and he does not look old. He could carry a half a curt of wheat on his little finger and write his name on the wall with the other fingers at the same time.
