- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)and a force of constabulary from both stations armed with spades and shovels arrived at the place where the digging took place some hours before.
After examining the newly-dug ground they quickly came to the conclusion that something or somebody had been buried there. They immediately started digging the supposed grave which was quite easy work seeing it was dug only a few hours earlier. They removed all the loose clay until they came to hard ground and solid rock but to their surprise they found nothing. Not knowing what to think and fearing thy had been fooled, the police filled in the grave again and cleaned away as quickly so they could.
The local people and neighbours around soon started to talk about the mysterious grave at the foot of the hawthorn tree and all sorts of theories and hair-raising stories were being circulated. People were coming from all around to see the spot but nobody could satisfactorily solve the mystery of the newly-dug grave.
After the elapse of a few years however, the facts of the mysterious grave leaked out.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
