  1. Nuts in May is a favourite game and is very easily played. An equal number of girls get on each side, and then each side on its turn says a rhyme and they choose some two for Nuts in May.
Here we go gathering Nuts in May.
    Nuts in May.
    Nuts in May.
Here we go gathering Nuts in May.
On a cold and frosty morning.
The other side of them sings
Who will we have for Nuts in May. [sic]
    Nuts in May.
    Nuts in May.
Who will we have for Nuts in May. [sic]
On a cold and frosty morning.
They always choose one from each side and then a mark is put on the floor and the two start pulling. Each pulls her best to get the other over to her own side. They continue this until all are over to one side and then the game is ended.
