   If the smoke goes up straight there will be calm weather.

   If a blue blaze is seen in the fire there will be frost.

   If there is good heat from the fire there will be frost.

   If a black frog is seen there will be bad weather.

   If a yellow frog is seen there will be good weather.

   If the black bird is seen about the farm-yard it is a sign

   of snow.

   If there is a rainbow in the sky, in the evening, the

   next day will be good.

   If the northern lights are seen in the sky there will

   be frost.

   The hills appear nearer when rain is coming.

   When rain is coming there will be snails on the road.

   White frost is a sign of rain.

   When there is a heavy mist on the mountains there will
