    About sixty years ago there was a family of Barretts living in the townland of Gurteens, Ballina, Co. Mayo. The house is an old ruin now. It is situated in Mr. Gallagher's field. The seventh son was called Dr. Barrett. In the troubled times in Ireland he went out fighting against the English. After that
