  1. It is about ninety years ago since the time of the famine. It was very severe weather. All the potatoes failed on the people. The people used nettles, grass and roots of trees to eat. Several people died along the road side with hunger and sickness. It lasted for two years.
The people used to buy Indian meal. They would boil the meal and eat it. They used to eat raw turnips, weeds, and grass. Some of the people used to eat oatmeal stirabout with milk.
