  1. The old people had a number of cures for toothaches, pains, and other diseases. Some people always carried a donkey's tooth in their pocket. They said, that while they carried this, they never got toothaches. They got cures in blessed wells. When they went to the wells, they washed the parts they wanted to cure. They said the seventh son had a charm to cure ringworm. If a mans wife had the same surname as himself, she could cure the whooping cough. The seventh daughter was supposed to be a fortune teller.
